The United States has not been "not involved in any offensive operations", US Secretary of State Antony Blinken says following reports that Israel had carried out revenge strikes on Iran. "On the first question, the reports that you've seen: I'm not going to speak to that except to say that the United States has not been involved in any offensive operations", Blinken tells a journalist at a press conference on the Italian island of Capri, adding that the G7 is focused on its "work to de-escalate from any potential conflict" in the Middle East. Trial opens for six teenagers for their role in the 2020 beheading of French teacher Samuel Paty, the first of two trials in a case that horrified France. The suspects, who were between the ages of 13 and 15 at the time of the murder, are accused of having been on the lookout for Paty, identifying him to the killer in exchange for money, or for making false accusations. Paty, a 47-year-old history and geography teacher, was stabbed and then beheaded near his secondary school in the Paris suburb of Conflans-Sainte-Honorine.
