  • Images show two Russian jets 'intercepting' a US Air Force drone over the Black Sea

Footage released by the US Air Force, shot on 14 March 2023, shows two Russian Su-27 aircraft flying close to a US MQ-9 unmanned aircraft over the Black Sea. The US Air Force has said the Russian jets conducted "an unsafe and unprofessional intercept", dumping fuel on the aircraft and striking its propeller, forcing Washington to bring down the MQ-9 Reaper drone in international waters. Moscow denied its aircraft had damaged the unmanned drone and said on Wednesday that it would try to retrieve the wreckage and also warned that it would react "proportionately" to any future US "provocations" as tensions. • AERIAL SHOTS of ravaged remains of house destroyed by Russian air strike in Syria's Idlib

Images show people standing amidst the rubble of a house that was destroyed by a Russian air strike that killed seven people, four of them children, in the Jisr al-Shughur countryside of northern Syria. Russia, which did not comment immediately on the raid, is a main backer of President Bashar al-Assad's regime. With Russian and Iranian support, Damascus clawed back much of the ground lost in the early stages of Syria's conflict, which erupted in 2011 when the government brutally repressed pro-democracy protests. The last pocket of armed opposition to the regime includes large swathes of Idlib province and parts of the neighbouring Aleppo, Hama and Latakia provinces. IMAGES
