A massive state-of-the-art tunnel used to smuggle drugs between Mexico and the US was discovered by authorities during a raid, federal officials announced on Wednesday.
Tons of cocaine and marijuana were seized when authorities found a tunnel that stretched across the border of San Diego, California and Tijuana, Mexico on Wednesday.
A drug tunnel was discovered on Tuesday beneath the US - Mexico border, San Diego 6 reported. US federal officers were patrolling near the San Ysidro Port of Entry fence when they found a sinkhole in the ground. The discovery led them to an underground tunnel that connected the northern edge of the Mexican city of Tijuana with the south end of San Diego.
A Honduran national admitted Wednesday in the federal court in San Diego that he tried to smuggle about 25 kilos cocaine across the Mexico-US border using an underwater tunnel, EFE reported.
