The world’s most notorious drug lord has been transferred to another prison as he fights extradition to the United States.
Mexico Attorney General Arely Gomez announced on Friday that fugitive drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman had been captured by marines in a pre-dawn raid on Friday morning.
"The jury found that Guzman lead the Sinaloa cartel, one of the largest and most dangerous drug cartels in the world, and that he's responsible for violence including murders and the smuggling of massive amounts of narcotics into the United States over a period of decades" says US attorney Richard Donoghue, after a jury finds 'El Chapo' guilty on all counts. Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, the fugitive drug kingpin, suffered injuries after he escaped the authorities’ attempt to recapture him in the mountains in western Mexico.
One of Mexico’s most notorious drug lords, Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman, escaped from Altiplano prison, a high-security prison in central Mexico, on Saturday night by fleeing through a series of elaborate tunnels connected to his cell.
