Train passengers around the UK are enduring another two days of industrial action on the nation’s railway network, as pay talks between the rail union RMT and Network Rail bosses fail to find a resolution. An act of "sabotage" targeting communication infrastructure brought rail traffic in northern Germany to a standstill on Saturday morning (8 October), according to rail operator Deutsche Bahn. The halt in service affected the departure of passengers at Berlin's main railway station as, for almost three hours, all high-speed and regional connections in the north of the country, as well as freight traffic, were interrupted. Saint-Lazare station in central Paris was packed with passengers this morning as commuters head back to work after the holidays. Trains were particularly packed as normal service is yet to resume due to the ongoing transport strike over the government's pension reform plans. IMAGES
