Images show air defence intercepting nighttime drone attacks and smoke rising above the city in Lviv, Ukraine, the day after the attacks. According to Lviv mayor Andriy Sadovyi three warehouses were destroyed and one person was killed. Ukraine says its air defence systems had downed 27 Shahed drones launched overnight in Russia's latest aerial barrage. "A total of 30 attack UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) were launched... As a result of combat work, 27 Shaheds were shot down by air defence units," the Ukrainian air force said on social media. IMAGES
In Profsoyuznaya street in the southwest of Moscow, a residential building's window is shattered after a swarm of drones struck the Russian capital. The Russian Defence Ministry blames Kyiv for the unprecedented attacks which left two people lightly injured and what it said was "minor" damage to buildings. IMAGES
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky denies Moscow's claims that Kyiv attempted to assassinate Russian President Vladimir Putin, after Russia claimed two drones were shot down at the Kremlin. "We didn't attack Putin or Moscow. We fight on our territory, we are defending our villages and cities," Zelensky tells reporters at a joint press conference with Nordic leaders in Helsinki. Marina Ovsyannikova, a journalist who became known after protesting against the Russian military action in Ukraine during a prime-time news broadcast on state television, waits for a Moscow court session inside a defendants' cage over charges of "discrediting" the Russian army fighting in Ukraine. As she waits, Ovsyannikova holds up a paper that reads 'May the dead children haunt you in your dreams'. She is facing up to 10 years in prison, if convicted. IMAGES
