Three school buses carrying evacuees from the besieged city of Mariupol arrive in Zaporizhzhia in south-eastern Ukraine. Strategic port Mariupol has been a key target for Russia in its attack on Ukraine and devastating bombardments have left swathes of the city in ruins. Ukrainian forces are holed up along with civilians in a final stronghold in the vast Azovstal iron and steel works. IMAGES
A column of buses carrying escaped residents of the besieged Ukrainian city of Mariupol has arrived in Zaporizhzhia to the northwest. Mariupol has been under Russian siege for nearly a month, with residents trapped without food, water and heat, and enduring heavy bombardment. IMAGES
Russia has summarily executed 77 civilians being held in arbitrary detention during its war in Ukraine, says Matila Bogner, the head of the UN's Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine. "Many civilian detainees were held incommunicado, in unofficial places of detention, often in deplorable conditions" Bogner explains, speaking at a bi-weekly UN press briefing. SOUNDBITE
