European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen arrives at Brdo Congress Centre, Ljubljana, Slovenia and is welcomed by Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob ahead of their meeting. Slovenia, an EU member, has asked for help from the bloc, seeking in particular heavy machinery such as excavators and prefabricated temporary bridges to deal with the aftermath of torrential rains and severe flooding that has left at least six people dead. European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen says she welcomed Chinese leader Xi Jinping's stated willingness to hold talks with Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky. "It was interesting to hear that President Xi reiterated his willingness to speak when conditions and time are right.
