The prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Karim Khan, says he is seeking warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister of Defence Yoav Gallant on suspicion of war crimes and crimes against humanity. According to Karim Khan crimes include "starvation", "wilful killing", and "extermination and/or murder". SOUNDBITE

The United States says that Sudan's rival forces have both committed war crimes in their brutal conflict, accusing the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces of ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity. The two sides "must end this brutal conflict... must comply with their obligations under international humanitarian law, international human rights law," says State Department spokesman Matthew Miller. ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan says crimes affecting children were his top priority when he came into the role and form the basis for the arrest warrant issued for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
