At least 38 Syrians were killed following a series of attacks by rebels against regime-controlled areas in Aleppo, Syria, on Tuesday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported.Aleppo, the largest city in Syria, has been divided into two sides with the rebels controlling the east and the state controlling the west throughout the Syrian civil war, reported the BBC.On Tuesday, Jihadi rebels fired multiple mortar rounds into residential areas including the districts of Hamadiniyeh, Akramiyeh, and New Aleppo, a Syrian-run TV said. A number of schools were targeted in Tuesday’s attack with at least 38 people dead, including 14 children and over 100 injured, reported Reuters. Death toll may continue to rise as many were critically injured. The attack resulted in one of the highest death tolls caused by rebel shelling in Aleppo.The attack is reported to be an attempt to divert Syrian military attention away from other rebel attacks in the city, reported UPI.
