Khartoum airport calm during 72-hour Sudan ceasefire

Description

Images show Khartoum International Airport in a state of seeming calm as the fragile 72-hour ceasefire agreed by Sudan's warring parties holds. The halt in fighting was brokered by the United States, and has provided the opportunity for many countries to conduct the evacuation of nationals. Since April 15, deadly fighting has pitted the paramilitaries of General Mohamed Hamdane Daglo’s Rapid Support Forces (FSR) against the regular army of General Abdel Fattah al-Burhane, with UN agencies reporting that at least 459 people have been killed and more than 4,000 wounded so far.
