  • Suspect named in DC quadruple murder

    Police issued an arrest warrant on Wednesday for a suspect in last Thursday’s arson and quadruple homicide in an upscale neighborhood of Washington, D.C. The bodies of American Iron Works CEO Savvas Savopoulos, his wife, their 10-year-old son, and one of their housekeepers were found tied up inside the burning house on Thursday afternoon by firefighters.According to reports by Fox News and the Washington Post, police identified the suspect as 34-year-old Daron Dylon Wint by analyzing DNA from the crust of a pizza that was delivered to the home of the Savopoulos’ family in Northwest Washington the night before the arson. Police said a pizza delivery man confirmed that he delivered two pizzas to the Savopoulos’ family’s house just before midnight on May 13 and was paid with cash in an envelope.The next morning, Savvas Savopoulos’s personal assistant delivered a package containing $40,000 in cash to the Savopoulos’ house just hours before the fire.A second housekeeper for the Savopoulos family said she received a series of unusual voicemails and texts from the family beginning on the night of May 13 asking her not to come to their home the next day.Police records show phone calls were made among Savvas Savopoulos, a bank, an accountant, Savopoulos’ personal assistant, a construction company executive and American Iron Works in the hours before the fire, between 7 a.m. and just before noon.Savvas, his wife, Amy Savopoulos, and the housekeeper were found dead in chairs and were soaked with gasoline. The couple’s son Philip Savopoulos was found dead in his bed with wounds made by sharp objects on his body.
