The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department says that ten people have been killed in a shooting in a predominantly Asian city in southern California, and "at least ten additional victims that were transported to numerous local hospitals". The gunman opened fire at a dance venue in Monterey Park, as the local community were celebrating Lunar New Year, and remains at large hours later according to the police. SOUNDBITE
A man wearing a fake suicide belt and wielding a knife was shot dead when he tried to enter a northern Paris police station on Thursday was wearing a fake explosive belt, a police union source told Reuters.
