French police prepare to carry out a new search for the body of Estelle Mouzin, the alleged victim of French serial killer Michel Fourniret, in the Ardennes, in northeastern France. Fourniret, the "Ogre of the Ardennes", confessed to killing 11 people, and died in May aged 79, taking his final secrets to the grave and denying families of victims long-awaited justice. IMAGES
In a wood in the Ardennes region of France, a digger fills in holes after excavations carried out the day before in the search for the body of nine-year-old French girl Estelle Mouzin. The location is Issancourt-et-Rumel, where there is a house that belonged to the sister of the main suspect in the case, Michel Fourniret. Fourniret, a paedophile serial killer, was already serving time in prison in 2019 when his former wife claimed he kidnapped, raped and killed Mouzin. Fourniret confessed to the crime in March 2020.
