The flag above Buckingham Palace flutters in the wind the morning after the palace announced that King Charles III was diagnosed with a form of cancer and has begun treatment, a week after he was discharged from hospital for prostate surgery. The 75-year-old British monarch, who became king upon the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth, had been advised by doctors to postpone public duties, although he would continue to "undertake state business and official paperwork as usual", the palace added. Britain's King Charles III leaves Buckingham Palace to attend the Trooping the Colour military parade in central London. Trooping the Colour marks the British sovereign's official birthday and is a minutely choreographed military tradition dating back more than two centuries. Charles was actually born in November, but the second birthday tradition dates back to King George II in 1748, who wanted to have a celebration in better weather as his own birthday was in October.
