"What good does this mandate do when it failed so miserably to meet any of its objectives?", new Israeli ambassador to the UN Danny Danon tells the press before the UN Security Council votes to extend the mandate of the peacekeeping force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) for a further year. He argues that the rocket attack that killed 12 teenage children in the Israeli annexed part of the Syrian Golan Heights at the end of July was "a direct result of the failure of UNIFIL and the Lebanese government" to implement the Council's resolutions.
