The White House says it does not support sanctions against the International Criminal Court (ICC) after the tribunal's prosecutor sought an arrest warrant against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. SOUNDBITE
The US "fundamentally rejects" an announcement today by the International Criminal Court prosecutor to arrest Israeli leaders, rejecting the court's authority and saying the move put ceasefire efforts at risk. "There should be no equivalence between Israel and Hamas," says US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller. SOUNDBITE
US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin says the United States will continue to provide support to the International Criminal Court as it investigates crimes committed in Ukraine, even though Washington disagrees with the ICC prosecutor's decision to seek arrest warrants for Israel's prime minister and defense minister.
