US President Joe Biden told his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday that another $625 million in military assistance, including four HIMARS multiple rocket launchers, is on the way, the White House says. SOUNDBITE
Ending US military aid to Kyiv would allow Russian President Vladimir Putin to "prevail" in Moscow's invasion of Ukraine, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan says. "Congress has to decide whether to continue to support the fight for freedom in Ukraine as part of the 50-nation coalition that President (Joe) Biden has built or... ignore the lessons we've learned from history and let Putin prevail," Sullivan tells reporters at the White House. The White House announces a new package of artillery ammunition for Ukraine as the pro-Western country gears up for an expected counter-offensive against the Russian invasion.
