A new bridge in the Italian coastal city of Genoa opens to traffic two years after the old one collapsed, killing 43 people. Just after 20:00 GMT the first vehicles cross the San Giorgio bridge that replaces the one that gave way during heavy rains on August 14, 2018. IMAGES
A long section of a viaduct on the A10 motorway collapses in Genoa, leaving people dead and injured, while the Transport Minister said he feared "an immense tragedy". According to several media sources citing Interior Ministry sources, the disaster left at least 11 dead and five seriously injured. IMAGES
Emergency services at the scene of the accident after part of a hotel collapsed in western Germany, killing two and injuring several others. Of the 14 people inside at the time, five managed to get out. Emergency services rescued one man, a child and two women on the morning of the 7 August. IMAGES
